Darnel Butler
Music Director
Darnel M. Butler, originally from New Brunswick, New Jersey graduated from BethuneCookman University in Daytona Beach, FL with a degree in Speech Communications & Theater Arts. He was considered a figure head during the years he spent with the B-CU Inspirational Gospel Choir. Darnel has served a number of churches as a musical director and worship leader over the past 25 years.
Darnel is an accomplished singer and songwriter and has written & published over 100 songs over the years, some of which have been recorded and performed in different areas around the nation. His musical resume includes opening for and working with Tamela Mann, Kierra Sheard, Donnie McClurkin, Martha Munizzi, Montell Jordan, and more.
Darnel has also acted in and directed several Tampa Bay area productions including, The Hip-Hop Nutcracker, The Wiz: A Christmas Remix, The Greatest Showman: A Christmas Remix (in which he starred as PT Barnum), and The Lion King: A Christmas Remix.
He has been the vocal producer for several live recordings and studio albums for his own projects and many groups over the years.
Darnel currently serves as the Director of Programs & Curriculum for the Arts Conservatory for Teens. ACT was created to serve under-served, at-risk students and communities. Founded in 2012, with headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida, ACT offers world-class
training and performance opportunities in Music, Theater, Dance, Film, Art, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship.
