Ryan McKinney is an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts at the City University of New York – Kingsborough Community College where he also serves as Director of the Theatre Arts Program. Previously he has taught at San Diego State University, Pace University, Marymount Manhattan College, Western Connecticut State University, and served as the Co-Director of the Pre-College Musical Theatre Studio at Emerson College for four years. As an actor, director & theatre manager, he has worked at such theatres as Manhattan Theatre Club, The Garden Theatre, Harbor Lights Theatre Company, The Contemporary American Theatre Festival and the touring productions of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and Forbidden Broadway. He currently serves as Chair of Musical Theatre for Region 1 of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), is the 2016 Recipient of the Kennedy Center Gold Medallion for service to theatre education, and the co-recipient of the 2013-2014 ATHE/KCACTF Region 1 Prize for Innovative Teaching. He holds an M.F.A. in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University, a B.A. in Theatre and International Studies from Fairfield University.
