Logan has been on the staff with Broadway Theatre Project for the past four years, where he worked closely with well-known performers including Ben Vereen, Nancy Dussault, Patrick Wilson, composer Frank Wildhorn and director Jeff Calhoun, among others. Logan Brown

 

He attended Baylor University where he double-majored in Piano and Vocal Performance. He did additional work at East Tennessee State University accompanying recitals, choral works and the Jazz Singers. Since then, he has been in demand as a Music Director for theatre in many areas of the country including New York, New England, Michigan, Arkansas, Florida, and Wisconsin. In addition to his numerous and varied musical theatre credits (from Nunsense and Little Shop of Horrors to Candide and Sweeney Todd), he is also an accomplished accompanist/vocal coach in the classical music field, working with the Metropolitan Opera auditions, as well as for private lessons, masterclasses and recitals.

 

He has been in demand as a pianist for cabaret shows, where he has accompanied such singers as Mickey Rooney, Jan Chamberlin (Mr. Rooney’s wife), Ann Morrison (known from the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along) and Sarasota favorite, Sharon Scott. As a composer, he has written original music for productions of Don Juan in Hell, Voice of the Prairie, The Wind in the Willows, and A Christmas Celebration, a sacred cantata. He has also arranged choral music for Una Voce: The Florida Men’s Chorale, and Crescendo, the Tampa Bay Women's Chorus. His arrangements have been heard at the GALA Choral Festivals in Montreal in 2004 and in Miami in 2008.

 

In addition, his accompanying skills have been heard in Canada and Italy.
Logan has been the Resident Music Director at the Barter Theatre, Abingdon, VA; Theatre Bristol, Bristol, TN, where he was also the Education Director; and Players of Sarasota, Sarasota, FL, where he also taught voice classes at their School of the Performing Arts and music directed many productions. He also worked at American Stage in St. Petersburg on many productions including A Grand Night for Singing and Twelfth Night Fever. From 2000-2003, he was on staff at Milwaukee’s Skylight Opera Theatre, working extensively on 10 productions and acting as music administrator, rehearsal accompanist, vocal coach, and also conducted performances of Hello Dolly. In addition, he was a featured orchestra member in the PBS telecast of Skylight’s production of Copland’s The Tender Land, and music directed their Midwest premiere production of The Spitfire Grill at American Folklore Theatre. While at Skylight, he also created and arranged the full-length cabaret show Don’t Tell Me Not to Sing, featuring the music of Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, and others.

Since returning to Florida, Logan helped to create Women of Color with Ann Morrison and Sharon Scott, and was the Music Director for Always... Patsy Cline, A Christmas Carol, the Broadway hit I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, and Holiday Cabaret at the Jaeb Theatre at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. He has also worked as rehearsal accompanist for Opera Tampa. In February 2006, Logan made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York as lead accompanist under the direction of Dr. Timothy Seelig of The Turtle Creek Chorale of Dallas TX. He also took part in Dr. Seelig’s final performance with TCC and recorded with them.

 

Currently, he is in demand as a freelance accompanist and serves as Staff Accompanist at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts in St Petersburg, accompanist for Diversity: The Voices of Sarasota and Una Voce: The Florida Men’s Chorale, and has served as director/accompanist for the UV Rays, Una Voce’s small ensemble.
