GARY KLINE
Master Class Artist

 

Gary Kline has served as Assistant Head of Musical Theater as well as Voice Teacher at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh since 1989. He also teaches Courses in Cabaret and Acting A Song. Gary has trained hundreds of Vocal Students, many who have appeared in Leading Roles on Broadway and National Tours in such musicals as Evita, Legally Blonde, The Pirate Queen, Xanadu, Forum, Lestat, Fame, Sweeny Todd, and dozens of others. A cabaret and musical performer, Gary has soloed with the Pittsburgh Pops under Marvin Hamlisch, in addition to performing dozens of roles, first in opera and then musical theater.

 

Gary KlineHe has also directed play readings in NYC at Primary Stages and the Actors Ensemble Studio, as well as many musicals such as Carousel, Elegies, The World Goes Round, and 110 in the Shade at CMU. His CD “Lucky” includes duets with Patrick Wilson and Billy Porter, as well as song legend Margaret Whiting.

 

Gary has served as head of music at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney Australia, and will be head of the musical theater portion of the Flying Swan Acting Program at Wesleyan University in 2008. He has served as music director at Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School in Colorado, and is most thrilled to be part of the Broadway Theater Project!
