Austin Pendleton is an actor, director, playwright and teacher of acting. As an actor he has appeared in such movies as A Beautiful Mind, Finding Nemo, My Cousin Vinny, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and most recently The Mend and She’s Funny That Way. He has been seen on TV in regular or recurring roles on Oz, Homicide, and Law and Order. He has also acted on Broadway where he created the role of Motel, the Tailor in the original production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Austin has acted with Natalie Portman and Linda Lavin in the revival of The Diary of Anne Frank and he replaced one of the leading roles in Grand Hotel, directed by Tommy Tune.

He has also acted in numerous off-Broadway musicals and plays, including Mother Courage with Meryl Streep, winning several awards. He has directed on and off Broadway, most recently Between Riverside and Crazy, which went on to win the Pulitzer Prize and Hamlet, starring Peter Sarsgaard. He won a Tony nomination for directing The Little Foxes starring Elizabeth Taylor. He teaches acting at HB Studio in New York City where he studied with Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof.
